Folketing MPs President Puigdemont and Minister Romeva with Danish parliamentarians
This morning, the President of the Catalan Government, Carles Puigdemont, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Institutional Relations and Transparency, Raül Romeva, received a delegation of Danish Members of Parliament. The MPs were invited by The Public Diplomacy Council of Catalonia (Diplocat) to learn first-hand about the political situation in Catalonia.

The delegation was formed by members of the Red-Green Alliance (Enhedslisten), the Danish People’s Party (Dansk Folkeparti) and a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokratiet) from the Faroe Islands.

During the meeting, President Puigdemont explained the political situation in Catalonia and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to holding a referendum no later than September this year. The President also encouraged the delegation to denounce the “judicialization of Catalan politics” being carried out by the Spanish state.

This is the second meeting the President has held at the Palau de la Generalitat with representatives of a foreign parliament through Diplocat in efforts to better explain the Government’s standpoint to the international community. At the beginning of March, Carles Puigdemont and Raül Romeva, also held talks with French parliamentarians interested in attaining first-hand information about the political situation in Catalonia.
